Like Alan pointed out, the RB/240 series the rear axle is narrower by ~2" than the 7/9xx axle, there's a lot of space in the 240 rear arches but not quite as much on the 7/9xx - you could try the spacers but in all honesty, i think you'd end up not using them.

This might be a silly question, 'L.S.', and totally impractical, but, looking at the picture of Alan's spacers, could a competent machine shop reduce the thickness to a more appropriate size? If that
could be accomplished, it might just allow 'Challo' to achieve the look that he is seeking without the danger of fouling his bodywork.
