I bought used V70, D4204T20 (88kW D2) with around 175k kilometers on the clock. According to Volvo, the car is up to date with all modifications done by previous owner. In last two months the turtle started showing up. The error code is P00BC00.
I tried following:
- inspected leaks
- fitted a new MAF
- cleaned MAP
- cleaned EGR and cooler
The error shows up still. It leaves me puzzled. The error pops up usually when I brake using engine downhill.
I have data when from one of the occurrences. After the error EGR went to 0%.
I was checking also coincidence of exhaust and intake pressure reading.
AFAIK it leaves with options:
- sticking EGR - EGR clicks when closes otherwise the movement fluid.
- broken MAP sensor
- clogged pipe to the Exhaust Pressure sensor (EMAP). I had the sensor out and the pipe looked ok but could be clogged elsewhere.
I do have other data logged and can generate graphs from different sensors.
Thank you for any hints.

This thread refers to EGR problems with VEA engines (D3 and D4) and not your older D2 type. You would hopefully get more replies if you started a thread in the correct area of the forum where your engine is discussed, such as here...
