Given that you say you don’t know the make of cambelt you had fitted I am assuming you did not have the work done at a Volvo main dealer?
The warranty on the cambelt is almost irrelevant as a pattern part fitted at a non franchised garage will likely have only a limited warranty meaning consequential losses are not covered. So you might get £30 back to cover the cost of a new belt if you can prove a manufacturing defect, you would unlikely get the £3000 + you would need for an engine rebuild or replacement. You should check - if you went to a major chain like Halfords or Kwik Fit they may have a stronger warranty.
I think at a Volvo dealer there’s a 12 month warranty on their service and repair parts and you get 12 months recovery.
