Thanks everyone. Volvo quoted they quoted £171 for water pump and £660 for timing belt all parts labour vat inc.
Ouch! Got a few other quotes and none were better than the £530 and I've used that garage for a long time as their knowledge and service is excellent, so that's where I'll likely take it.
