The bypass valve alternates during warmup the gasses in the egr cooler or not warmup the cat faster but if it switched off all the gasses passes in the egr cooler which warms up the coolant faster.
The auto gearbox doesent even have one .
If that all is ok check the brakebooster on leaks

On the plus side, I’ve found a garage that is happy to do the lifters, looking forward to getting it all sorted 😊
