I've already spent way over that on a new clutch and other odds and sods. So three questions....

1. Is that a reasonable quote? (£600 part and the rest labour)
2. Do you have any idea what it normally costs to have the engine mounts done? (It's the rubber bits I'm told and it passed its MOT)
3. When would you call it a day and get another car?
Not to sound offensive, but I wouldn’t let Halfords change a light bulb, never mind an EGR cooler & engine mounts. I think you’d be best to get a second opinion.

My advice would be to find an independent Volvo specialist to do the work. You’re based in Sale, so not too far from Stockport. Give Hallmark Volvo a try… these guys know their stuff & won’t rip you off. They aren’t that far from sale, maybe 20 minutes?
