Default RE: 3 litres straight six..how smooth??

For a Volvo I would about say they are the queen of the lot.
I've had mine since 1971. Due to a lot of noise I installed a
B30E engine about a dozen years ago (put my carb manifold on it)
and replaced the worn cam with an IPD street performance cam.
It is a real goer. It turned out that the noise was from the
infamous fiber timing gear, and that there was no measurable wear
on any of the crankshaft bearings and only 5 thou at the worst
point of the cylinders. The cam was pretty badly worn but a new
cam and a set of rings would have put it in first class shape.
It had 204,000 miles on it at the time.

Yes it is smooth. Suspension bushings need to be good, wheels
and tires true and balanced, etc
