The valve appears to be secured to that plate which is mounted against the bulkhead.
Is it possible to see, on the engine side of the bulkhead, any fixings from that plate which pass through the bulkhead? Inboard and about level with, or slightly below, the brake master cylinder fixings.

Managed to sort it. I undid the bolts in the engine bay but didn’t make a difference. Once i up clipped the wire from the temp control unit it was able to twist and pull out. Bit of a faff with all the pipe work and cutting the pipes to the various sizes. Refilled the coolant, ran up to temp and looks ok. Will check again tomorrow for leaks and top up the tank with some water.
Fingers crossed this is the end and I can put the carpets back in.
