I'm inclined to agree with Simon, Alan. The fact that the dealer seems not to know a great deal about the car does not necessarily mean that it is a wrong'un.
My initial comment was intended less as a reflection of the car and more on the apparent lack of professionalism on the part of the dealer - my apologies for any confusion caused and if I'm misjudging him!
If you really fancy the car, you owe it to yourself to either inspect it personally or have someone do so on your behalf. They don't come along that often, and it could equally well be a good'un!
