More excellent work there! Although i've not done anything like the amount of welding you've done, i always try to make 1.2mm the thinnest i use - by the time you've grond back the welds and no doubt caught a bit of the new metal, it's then thinner so it's a case of keeping the strength up from my piont of view.
Also helpful if you're welding to thinner metal as you can concentrate the ehat on the thicker 1.2mm stuff.
