This sounds quite similar to an issue we had with ours a couple of years ago ..it was randomly taking 2 - 3 presses on the start button to fire up.
we also had the stop/start system not enabling.
The resolution for us was a new battery as it was on its way out and not holding sufficient charge.
I suggest checking the battery or giving it a good charge.
