Thanks for all the very helpful information. I have ordered the strut mentioned in the first post, and thanks to Tatsfield for having ordered and confirmed that it works well. I do not have a heavy mat as I have the Volvo hard high-sided load-liner, which obviously has to be removed before the floor is lifted. I await its arrival. Many thanks.
