Well if this is a case of in-built inducer, that's a very cheeky way on behalf of Volvo to ensure usage of their parts. A lot of Volvo cars conduct is a bit below the belt to ensure constant milking of the customers, but same can be said about nearly every manufacturer nowadays. I didn't know about the inducer ring. Why would they complicate a humble bearing to such extent is beyond me... Except to make sure demand for genuine parts.
