My local Volvo dealer is supplying a new injector (not recon- I asked) graded to match the others. The price is £245 Inc VAT which seems very reasonable and only £5 more than I was charged by the independent specialist for an ungraded recon injector from Bosch.

I called German and Swedish who supplied the recon one and they confirmed the injectors supplied are ungraded and match the Bosch specification not Volvo and only a single part number for my model . So for anyone needing to replace message is go for Volvo.

The independent has agreed to fit the new injector for free on Sat and refund his injector if knocking is resolved however he is still insistent in his opinion it's not an injector problem.. But he's not about to drive to France.. I will also ask for an injector test using VIDA.
