During a 200 mile journey a few days ago I needed to overtake at about 65mph on a slight hill , changed down from 5th to 4th , there was initially some acceleration seemed normal power and then suddenly after 3 seconds with foot down power dropped to about 50% and wouldnt go more than 65mph. Happened a second time about fifty miles further on . Switching the engine off completely and then back on and power is restored , I dont think its the turbo ? Could it be the MAF unit ? Have experienced the problem a few times over the past 25k miles but as it was intermittant havnt yet been concerned enough to get it fixed but now seems like problem is not going away on its own and may get worse . Car now covered 118k miles and its never had any major component replaced . I couldnt find any articles on the MAF unit , is there anything that explains in detail how this component works ?
