Thanks to all for the responses on this and the other boards.

Given the nature of the input I've received, it's safe to conclude that the 2.0l engine is widely unknown and was likely eschewed by buyers.

The weakened piston rings in some vehicles should go down as one of the most stupid things done by an industry. Being that owner neglect is so common, building engines which use oil faster than normal is asking for trouble.

During the lockdowns I saw a 40 series for private sale. This car had the 4 cyl. and head gasket damage. It would blow pressure into the reservoir tank immediately upon startup.
With all the churning and bubbling going on, I could barely hear the seller say, "It doesn't have to be fixed immediately, does it?"
It was hard not to laugh at the guy.
I didn't know about the faulty design at the time.

Another real puzzler is that there's no info out there regarding if or when these weak piston rings were revised. Even seemingly friendly guys at dealerships know nothing.

And as far as shoehorning a supercharger atop a turbocharged engine goes; that's way too many parts to fit under a hood.
