I've decided to go ahead, I've taken on board the comments, but hopefully I'm not going to regret it. I've picked up an AW71L which was working well before it was removed, I've sent it down Caerphilly to be fully refurbished. The chap is calling Andy and very helpful, specialist in Borg Warner.
I got the complete prop shaft when the parts arrive for that, the carrier, bearing boot etc, I will get them fitted , new universal joints and balanced.
I've fitted a standalone transmission oil cooler with a built in electric fan, which I am going to have operated by a thermal switch.

I will update on the progress , but I do have one question if anyone could help
Is there a bracket for the kickdown cable, before it goes on to the throttle spool, it's a K -jet
QUOTE=360beast;2941367]I've got a brake pedal, the pedal box is the same you just remove the clutch pedal bracket which is separate.

I might have a clutch master cylinder blanking plate too.
Many thanks
Andrew

Very unusual to hear someone wanting to do a manual to auto swap, may I ask why? It's a very involved job.

You'll need to swap the radiator for one with an oil cooler or fit a separate oil cooler like the 760 has.

You will need

Brake pedal
Master cylinder blanking plate
Brake fluid reservoir will need the clutch take off blanking
Oil cooler for the gearbox
Gearbox
Torque converter
Flexi plate
Gearbox crossmember
Propshaft (just the front half will do but it's better to fit a complete prop)

I think that's it, I have only done this swap the other way around so I may have missed something.

You might need to swap in an axle from an auto car as the ratio is different, the manual axle will make it rev lower at motorway speeds, so if you get an AW71L the lockup won't engage until you're going faster.

There was a 940 turbo automatic in harry bucklands scrapyard in Cheltenham a couple of weeks ago, my mate sent me a photo of it but I haven't had time to get down there, it will have everything you need hopefully.[/QUOTE]
