Had a similar problem on my 2003 v70r , check the fuel pressure (should be a valve on the end of the fuel rail for this purpose) The fuel pressure is controlled by a vacuum operated valve on the fuel rail . check that the vacuum pipe is sound and it is pulling a vacuum when engine is running ,then the regulator for operation , I checked mine with a hand operated vacuum pump. Turned out it was knackered . Replaced it and all was well again .Hope this is of help.
