Indicative of the marque I suppose mind, Volvos are generally much pricier and more likely to be handed off to a main dealer.
Hi Simeon, I came from a background of VW and older BMWs, I still own a few of those too, and found similar but always tend to do my own maintenance time permitting regardless. I would say you’ll find some great knowledge on this forum though and hopefully recommendations for specialists when you need them.

I’ve done a few DIY transmission fluid changes on my Volvos and have recently bought a V60 which will be getting the same treatment on the driveway in addition to the various AWD fluid changes that never get done at main dealers. If you can get your hands on a DICE unit and the VIDA software it makes maintaining a Volvo so much easier, it’s like VCDS for VAG if you’re familiar with that?

I’ll add a link to my previous V70 thread which pics and the process for the gearbox fluid change which might help. EGR wise I’ve never had issues but VIDA would be my route to diagnose if I did suspect a problem.

Have a look at post #5 onwards here. Make sure you can undo the fill plug, probably a T55 torx, before you drain anything
