As Discoman says, stick with what is supplied as new from the factory.
If you change from factory specifications on items like that and have an accident, any insurance company will likely try and use that as an excuse to not pay out as there is a change to specification without any declaration of the modification. It sounds petty but if it saves them from paying out, you can bet they'll try it.
