As the OP has already stated, the PIA with the McGard kit that's fitted on the XC90 from the factory is the rotating anti-theft collar, if the OP is doing this himself that must be removed first, and the chances of damaging the wheel is very high as it is surprisingly deep set with almost no clearance between the wheel and the collar.

Despite the advice given "normal" garages/tyre fitters etc in general wont touch it as they know they will damage the wheel trying to get the collar off.

Go on ask me how I know

My local dealer removed the issue , took them hours, but they did do the job and thankfully only charged 1hr of labour (although it took much longer, as I sat drinking their coffee and eating the buns and biscuits provided.)

Good luck on removing the collar, you may be lucky with your first attempt. Personally I would find a garage to weld a nut/bolt and socket and remove the offending bolt that way (the method my dealer chose) but your likely to get wheel damage which ever method you go with.
