On our previous S60 disconnecting the support battery for 5 minutes used to sort it out.
Our MX-5 also needs the battery disconnecting every now and then to get the stop start back.
I support 'OldEngineer', the 'computer' says NO so the old disconnect and reconnect is a cheap option to try, and it may just fix your problem.
