Praise be the post that started this thread! :-)
On polishing my 2003 V70 last weekend I opened the flap to do a pukka job, and on closing noticed it wasn't "square" in the aperture. Closer investigation showed that one of the "ears" that gets loaded by the spring has broken off. It's only a matter of time before I will be fitting a replacement bracket and I would (no question) have started by removing the interior trim from the wheel arch...
