I’m not sure how much difference the mild hybrid system makes to mpg in the real world. It mostly comes into play when using the stop/start system, or pulling away from junctions, so will obviously benefit most those driving in towns and cities with congested traffic.
I have the FWD version of the B4 petrol mild hybrid. I rarely drive in heavy traffic, so most of the time I’m just driving a 2.0 petrol car carrying the extra weight of the 48v battery. However, it does make the ride smoother when pulling away, and the engine starting up is almost imperceptible.
