I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Vocal complaints from passengers are likely to be the factor that pushes you into changing, but I would see if you can take said passengers out for a drive in a car with 18s to check if they can actually tell the difference.
Is it the 10 spoke Turbine wheels you have? If so, you're right, they do look awesome!
