Im going to check and clean or replace wiring connectors in the engine area as well.

I thought I'd share my experience with you guys....

When we were on our way to The Lakes on holiday from my place Nottingham, we wanted to visit Blackpool. So when nearing the beach, my gearbox failed giving me these two messages with red triangle:

Engine system service required
Transmission service urgent ( a dash ' - ' displayed)

Gearbox actually went to limp mode and got stuck in 3rd gear. I just took the risk and drove to the beach and parked in a bay. RAC guy scanned it found No2 injector faulty. He cleared the code and did a test drive. Car was all fine after that but he advised me not to drive any further, and recommended a specialist garage in Kendal to get the injector replaced.

From my DIY experience, if the fault doesn't return straight away, that means its an electrical issue, not actually the part itself (please correct me if Im wrong). I said okay to him and drove to my B&B in Windermere. Halfway, after driving 30 miles the problem came back again. So I took a B road and got my destination.

Next day I did a bit of an investigation on that No2 injector and found out the connector was all loose. The internal contact surface was all rusty and dusty. I cleaned it with wifey's nail polish remover. Started the engine and all back to normal.

As the connection was poor, ECU wasn't getting any response from the injector, so the failsafe moved kicked in, limiting the gear to 3rd. Now the car is running all fine. To be honest, I had some vibration and that is gone too
