I'd put the value in the £3-500 region Alan, pretty much for the reasons you've described but also the unknown quantity of the V8 conversion. There may still be a lot of work to do (in addition to recommissioning) just to get the conversion to run right and either way, most insurers will want an Engineers Report to confirm it's safe and the brakes etc are capable of stopping the car.

On the other hand, if it was a going concern, looking tidy and on the road with a current MoT and an Engineers Report to prove what the insurers will want then £3750 would possibly be nearer the real value. That said, many people wouldn't want the V8 conversion so it's a bit of a swings and roundabouts situation.
Once upon a time i would have almost killed for that kind of conversion but these days i'd look for a more moern engine than the POB/Rover V8 such as the 1UZ Toyota/Lexus 4.0 V8. I'd also prefer to do the conversion myself so i knew it was done right.
