D'oh! Now have an apparently fully working one on the way - should know if it works by Thursday. If I have different ABS issues at that point I may be interested in your ones!
ABS light did stay on when I started the engine - but obviously no light without ignition on even though ABS pump running.
Possibly could be a sensor or something else, but my general logic was that any sensor faults shouldn't cause the pump to run if the ECU is working normally with no key in ignition. Will find out next week!
