I believe that the side trims are held in place by plastic clips that are secured to the metal frame posts:~
These in theory should allow the trim to pulled away- clips like these are prone to breaking but can be replaced- the trim does indeed run up and along the roof sides so like most jobs on cars it becomes something else!
If you look on line you should find a couple of video's for models that are near your car age and these will give some pointers- as with any screen work go carefully.
