The information on this is totally messed up, even some Volvo main dealers have been found to supply the wrong length of plugs.
Personally I have the longer plugs in my 2.4 T5, and from what I found whilst investigating that, I think the 2.3 is supposed to have the shorter ones.
This link shows the exact measurements and thread counts I found on my 2.4 with the longer plugs. I suggest you measure and count the threads on both your existing plugs and the cylinder head in the same way to find out for certain which you should have.
