Take your diver boots off. On a serious note have you tried manually selecting 2nd. Bit less torque for the tyres to deal with. You mentioned using the paddles to select a 'lower gear', did you mean a higher gear? Does this happen in damp greasy conditions or when the road is completely dry. D4 has plenty of torque so should easily pull away on a incline in 2nd gear. Guessing the tyres still have good tread on them and at the right pressure. If you have the big wheel, wide tyre combo could possibly be a reason.
