I'll start a record of the renovation on the RB thread tomorrow. My local F1 Centre has agreed to take the old tyres off and dispose of them (our council won't take them any more) for the price of a drink. I'm wondering, what sort of paint did you use? I was thinking of aerosol smooth Hamerite, but it is quite thick so maybe the centres would not fit well? Perhaps something like this would be better:

What do you think?
On those wheels above Alan, i think i used this :

The can design has changed hence only "think" i used that! It was certainly glitter paint made by Rustoleum anyway.

As for the Autotek paint, it's good stuff. I used it on my 760 wheel (only done one so far!) and the silver you've linked to comes out like this :

Through fiendishly devilish means, i then painted it with another Autotek product but the "Steel Silver" instead and got this :

......... and on the car, wheel painted in the "Steel silver" :

From certain angles the "VOLVO" in the middle isn't visible yet from others it is. I call it my "ghost logo".

On all the paintwork i used a few coats of clear lacquer to protect and enhance it all.

The Autotek stuff is better than the smooth Hammerite in this application because as you rightly point out, the Hammerite stuff tends to be pretty thick.
