Yes, you can do software upgrades with this. Software upgrades require an active Volvo subscription though, the minimum subscription you can purchase is 3 days.
Maybe the issue is with some other sensor, once you read the codes it will give you an idea of what the issue is and why the blowing of hot and cold.
