Not sure about removing it, if it's not in the manual.....
Have you trieds sliding the seat as far back as it will go, and then raising the head restraint a bit? From memory, I am sure it is the head restraint that stops it lying flat... Also before doing this, try removing the armrest/centre console (clip at bottom rear) as this allows the centre seat to slide a lot further forward, again this ma help...
