It is always useful to think about the others on the road and surrounds as well as what is happening within the bubble of your own car.

Having the front lights on is nothing to do with you being able to see out of the car, it is about others - especially children, cyclists and pedestrians to see you.

Having rear lights on is to help others see your back end, had you had them on as Volvo have done for many years then perhaps you wouldn't have the accidents.
