Perhaps a surprise answer here but I disagree. The B27/28 engines made by the Peugeot, Renault and Volvo consortium are of poor design.
They're prone to excessive camshaft and rocker wear and the unequal firing angles produce an inherently lumpy running engine.
Being of a wet liner design, liner seals (paper!!!) can fail requiring costly repairs. Has to be one of the worst V6 engines ever made.
Thankfully, the B280 was a great improvement.
