Confirm Clan is correct: all earlier genuine (ie not of Daf origin) engines had two gears, whether it be the PV range, the Amazon range, 140s, 164s and P1800s. They went to belts with the first 240s.
If needing to rebuild an engine of this range I'm not sure if they are all of the same diameter and number of teeth - they MAY be interchangeable but check up first.

all interchangable but the 164 E had steel gears , last forever but more noisy , The original cam gear was fibre so could wear/break after high mileage . Last i heard you could only get steel gears .
