I will attempt to get the crank pulley off in the next couple of days and then align the crank timing marks, put a new belt and tensioner on and then see if the engine will turn over by hand.

Is it possible that when I was turning the crank to align the timing marks that the belt slipped on the teeth as I did feel it go free all of a sudden ??

If the news is not good, how easy is it to remove/replace the head ?

I am a very capable home mechanic.
