Ive fitted a rubber bung, on the end of a home made "L"bracket, to take the strain out of the arm, just as it hits the end of its travel.
Same as the 'stop bracket' on page 12 on the bottom link of Gallot663 post above.
Im hoping that will prolong the length of service of this troublesome item.
