My S60 also has a intermittent center console creak/rattle over the coarse chip roads, though I can't stop them through pressing or pushing around them. Some of the vents also rattle if put completely up or down.
I'll be stripping down the console and applying d double sided foam tape or silicon lube as appropriate.
Had similar issues with previous cars however they were easier to isolate as it was the outer dash bits... my S60 rattles seem to come from inner untouchable bits.
