Interesting update on this one.....
I've just been speaking to the seller, (ok trying to do a naughty "off-ebay" deal!).
I mentioned to him about this thread, and he has clarified what was in my mind, having seen the log book, which shows two previous owners.
The current seller bought it in 2012 from the dealer who bought it from e-bay in 2011. He confirmed that he knew the dealer had paid £870 for it, and spent £1500 getting it through an MOT!. (There are bills for this which, thinking about it again - I have seen)
The current seller paid £2300 for it in 2012, and has spent a further £1000 or so on work since! Again receipts for all this exist.
Interesting to fill in those gaps in the story!
