It has full service history and is just touching 180,000. the dealer suspects that the one of the swirl pot flaps has worked loose and landed on top of the piston, until the head is removed I wont know for sure.

The cambelt hasn't snapped and I was thinking of replacing it soon, kind of glad I haven't paid for it to be done if this was going to happen. I've read a few threads about head/engine damage but certainly not as many as a Vauxhall, guess that's why replacement engines/ heads are expensive and difficult to find.

Is anyone aware whether the head can be skimmed?
