So the MLT - 145 with 164 front sheet metal would be the simple way to go on the face of it. I'll have to have a good look at both and measure up. Windscreen / scuttle area could maybe pose a problem.

Apologies - I thought at this stage you were still proposing to graft an estate rear panels onto a 164 (very annoying that the regs won't allow such a conversion).
As others have said, the 164 has a longer wheelbase, but I'm sure with a little ingenuity, 164 outer panels could be shortened to suit a 140 front end, if that is the look that you want
