Volvo radio
The radio (Clarion 855) in my '67 P220 died and my '66 parts car has a Volvo AM radio (6BVO) in it.
What are the chances it will work or can be revived ? Is there anything to be careful of when I check it out ? Thanks Greg |
Central Services may be the best place to get it done.

Bob. Note that the OP is in the USA.
Try a post on Brickboard in the relevant model section. Not much being played on AM in the USA I think but would be fun. You could try it on 6volts first. Almost certain to need new capacitors. |
I took the cover off and blew out all the dust, pushed all the buttons, twisted the knobs. It looks like a big capacitor in the back needs to be replaced (leaking). Plugged it in (with a 1 amp fuse) and it worked ! It will look great in the car.
Not that much on FM here either... |
The bad capacitor appears to have 2 values printed on the outside and three pins on the other side of the board. Sourcing two caps is not a problem. Knowing which one goes where kind of is. Anybody got a schematic for a Bendix 6BV0 radio ?
