Power seat twisting - repair advice
Hi all from a steamy hot South Auckland, where in 30 degree temperatures at 92% humidity, I praise' de Lawd for the sainted Robby in this video.
He may be rough, but he is accurate and the fix works perfectly. Now I just have to pull the passenger seat out to tidily fit the sheepskin seat covers. After a beer. |
1998 V90 Power seat twisting issue - repair advice
I’ve got a drivers-side seat forwards and backwards motion which only works on the left-hand side. I’ve looked at the YouTube video where the Robert DIY pulled the seat apart and reconnected the wiring to the problem motor but it all looks a bit too daunting for me to undertake on my own. @aardvarkash10 , looks like you live not far from me in Auckland - I’m in Onehunga. If you could give me a call or send a text message on 022 041 8498 to talk me through how to do the work or even come round to have a look, that would be great! Thanks & regards, Rob Mayo.

Doing the repair in that video isn’t really too bad a job. I had to do it last September. The worst part is gaining access to the flexible drive shafts. I did this by releasing the front of the seat cushion, which is a bit fiddly. To align the seat afterwards I got the seat to the front-most position and then checked by manually turning the shortened driveshaft that the troublesome side was also on the end stop. Seemed to work OK.

If you're unfussy about doing the cable end trick you can just cut a section out of the middle of the cable and cover your tracks with electrical tapes fiddly but means you can do it on the car.
