XC70 2000 Model Auto gearbox Wiring Diagram
 

Hi There,

Just recently purchased a late 2000 XC70 with 5 speed automatic gearbox. Engine service light on and no drive in any gear although selector will shift and selection is indicated on the dashboard. Have read a number of forums regarding issues with solenoids and the PNP switch but none seem applicable to the symptoms with my car? I'm wondering if it's either an electrical issue or the mechanical connection between the selector and the gearbox, although, I cannot find any information on how the gearbox is wired to the control unit for testing purposes? Your help would be much appreciated?

Type "Volvo wiring diagrams" in to google and one site it lists has a url very similar to what you put in the search engine go to this site and doenload the pdf format diagram for your car.
I assume you have checked the autobox fluid as it has its own dipstick coloured yellow check the level with it running. If its a phase 2 car it will need fluid that meets jws3309 and only pour the oil through the dipstick tube - Mike

Thanks there, only just checked the car over, it appears to be missing its dipstick and fumes are coming from the breather vent adjacent to the dipstick hole. Managed to get the diagrams for it though - think I was being specific when conducting my searches. When I first started it up I managed to move the car in both forward and reverse albeit with lots of slipping, once the oil was warm it wouldn't move at all. Will investigate further when I get the time, kids off for Xmas etc. Thanks for help. Cheers Neil
