Seat Recliner Mechanism
Hey Guys,
When the restorers were taking the car down for its MOT they almost had a little accident. It would seem when they got to a set of lights and applied the brake the back of the seat fell back! Leaving the driver clinging on to the steering wheel. Now I was wondering if anyone knows how the mechanism works, is this likely to be an easy fix? The seats have just been recovered so I hope this isn't something terminal! As usual any help apreciated. |
The adjusting mechanism/lock (old style) is like 6 or 7 thin steel plates that overlap and get squeezed together by a screw.
At the end of the screw a handle is attached to it, that allows you to tighten the screw by 90-120 degrees. If that doesn't squeeze the plates tight enough, take of the handle and set it back say 90 degrees. |
need to DM but short of quite a few messages before being eligible to do that.
Apologies for the SPAM - trying to reach the limit of the required 30 msgs. Pls blame not only me. It is a matter of safety -> a bit urgent. |
