CUPHOLDER FOR 940
Think I've found a good cupholder that works well in the 940.
'Touring Items - TYPE S' , got it in Halfords for £6-7. Easy to fit but I recommend that you get the 'moving vent' section out of the dash as its a tight fit for the locking lugs to get over the rather deep vent fins, a little help with a screwdriver sorted it. Looks OK in the silver version against the black interior, see pic. |
RE: CUPHOLDER FOR 940
the type s range is good stuff i got one but all save yourselves about £2.50 by shopping at your local car shop instead of them grabbing fools at halfords. they are rip off big time.i got two bosch wiper blades for £10 from local shop. halfords wanted £20 for exactly the same thing.every bit helps to buy more petrol for the gas guzzler.

RE: CUPHOLDER FOR 940
I just bought the rather lovely original Volvo armrest with 4 built-in cupholders for my 940. In a moment of madness and frustration (at not being able to find one in a breakers) I bought it brand new for £93 out of Murray Volvo.
It cost nearly 20% of what I paid for the whole car! Now do you all believe I'm serious about my Volvo??!! By the way, it was worth every penny - so don't try and convince me otherwise... |
RE: CUPHOLDER FOR 940
Don't you have a G,S & F or Eurocarparts outlet near you? Certainly one of the best options for wiper blades etc. All the best, Peter |
RE: CUPHOLDER FOR 940
Yes there is - about a mile from Murray Volvo - directions provided if required - I was there today and picked up a pair of wipers and two Bosch Xenon power Headlight bulbs - one had gone so seemed the right time - for £22 all in. They are far cheaper for example a heated electric mirror - admittedly a replacement and not a genuine volvo one was £75 + vat - I think a genuine on is around £110 + VAT - I hate to think what Murray's would charge. Use the www.eurocarparts.co.uk website as a guide - sometimes the logic of where things are is a bit weird but you can always phone!
Ian '93 Highlander - now with electric mirrors! |
RE: CUPHOLDER FOR 940
Hi Ian,
Yes please - directions required. Even coming in from Coburnspath this could work out a good bit cheaper. |
RE: CUPHOLDER FOR 940
I thought of the Volvo original armrest and chased breakers but gave up as I suppose no-one specced their cars up with the armrest holders due to the prices charged by Volvo. The armrest version is nice but is in the way on a manual car (have driven V70's in the past and a big milkshake is in the way unless u r in 5th on the motorway).
Re spares, lost my passenger sunvisor last year after showing my 5 yr old how it worked, she showed off to her mum and broke the damn thing in the process. Have sofar refused to pay £42.00 from Volvo for a replacement (sunglasses are cheaper) but suppose I will have to go for it this year as no breaker seems to have one that fit my 97. |

>Hi Ian,
> >Yes please - directions required. Even coming in from >Coburnspath this could work out a good bit cheaper. Directions as follows: Coming in from the east on the A8 travelling towards Edinburgh go past the Airport turn and continue on the dual carridgeway - WATCH OUT FOR THE SPEED RESTRICTIONS (Sneeky white van - 3 points £60 - I Know)- stay in the left lane straight over the roundabout (its easier than trying to get into the left lane if you go under the roundabout) and just as you go down towards the traffic lights there is a sharp left slip road, almost a U turn, before the lights (don't go through the lights) - I think it is signposted airport freight, turnhouse and emergency vehicles and about 300yds up on the right is the shop/warehouse. It may be cheaper for you to get mail order - the website has all the details as well as an approximate map as the roundabouts have been replaced by the traffic lights! http://www.eurocarparts.co.uk/images..._map_large.gif |
RE: CUPHOLDER FOR 940
Added advantage with Eurocarparts is that if you order before 4 pm the goods will be with you next day. Cost of crriage/packaging is around £4 for goods worth £25 and around £8 for goods worth more than £25. All the best, Peter |
RE: CUPHOLDER FOR 940
Thanks, Ian. I know this road - my sons force visits to Maybury Models (nearer the road end). Visits to the Gyle and Hermiston make access more possible also.
