Has this car been clocked?

Been going through the paperwork of a new car I purchased from large dealer group in Scotland. (Dealer C)

The car was supplied via motability to a customer via a main dealer franchise in England (Dealer A) who was used for servicing etc.

After being released by Dealer A, maybe at auction, it was serviced at Dealer B, before making its way to Dealer C.

Note Dealer B and Dealer C are different branches of the same large dealer group.

09/2009 0 Pre-Delivery Service Dealer A
11/2009 ? 3 Month Inspection Dealer A
06/2010 12056 1 Year or 12.5k Service Dealer A
01/2011 21429 Tyre Replacement
03/2011 24292 2 Year or 25.k Service Dealer A
12/2011 36443 3 Year or 37.5 Service Dealer A
12/2011 36628 Tyre Replacement
08/2012 45423 MOT Test Issued Cert Expires 07/2013 Dealer A
10/2012 42297 4 Year or 50k Service Dealer B
2/2013 47413 Bought by me from Dealer C

Between the MOT at dealer A and service at dealer B the car has lost 3000 miles?!?

I plan to phone dealer B on Monday to enquire about the milage they have on file for the service incase it was copied into the logbook wrongly. If it hasn't does anyone have any advice where to go from here?

Cheers,
Firthy

I have the MOT certificate with mileage shown, and I have the service in the log book against their dealer stamp with mileage and date shown.

Assuming when I enquire it hasn't changed, you suggest I get another copy of the service record alongside their mileage, then take it to the dealer I bought it from?

Complain to Trading Standards and go from there? Any ideas what I should be pushing for in regards to refund or compensation for mileage. There is a limit to what it can have been clocked by. I also shall have a new MOT certificate issued by the new dealer when I bought it with the current mileage on it.

If it is handwritten in the service book, as I am guessing it is, is it possible that the service at Dealer B should actually read 47297?

It is quite possible that since it was serviced it has only done a couple of hundred miles as it could have been sat on a forecourt for a couple of months between dealers

If someone is going to clock a car they are going to take a lot more than 3000 miles off it

That will be nothing more than a typo when Dealer B done the service. The cars are leased for years to Motobility, so the first customer will have had it from 09/2009 until approx 08/2012 then it has been somewhere for a few months. I'm guessing someone has written the mileage down and then done the paperwork and not been able to read their own writing and thus has a 2 and 7 round the wrong way.

I'm guessing we are talking about some bloke called Arnold for the dealers??

What vehicle exactly is it? Volvo's have a secondary mileage counter and if read with Vida/Dice (Volvo diagnostic equip & software) then the mileage can be verified quick and easy.

If you can get a dice/VIDA to read the car it will show the mileage that is on the Main ECU which should be the same that is on the DIM (dash display)

Yip, any Volvo dealer or someone with VIDA/DICE should be able to verify your mileage.

Hmm, currently in Edinburgh so I might stop by Murray Volvo and see if they can do it for me during the week, or would there be better places to try?

(Note: Murray Volvo haven't touched the car so far and aren't Dealer A, B or C)
