"Bonnet Open" Warning

Hi Everyone

I keep getting a dash warning of bonnet open, I think it is also causing the alarm to kick in occasionally which is irritating

Does anyone know where the bonnet plunger switch or actuator is under the hood. I took a cursory look around the bonnet lock and couldn't see anything obvious

The car is a 2013 XC60 D4AWD

Many thanks

On my 2015 car, the plunger is part of the drivers side latch which is (next to a triangular cover plate). You'll see the plunger if you compare the latch to the passenger side one. Mine played up a few years ago, I just sprayed it and the latch with loads of anti corrosion/ lubricant. Seemed to do the trick.

Hi Graham

Many thanks, I'll check that out

I have the same problem but only in the winter when it’s v cold. Clean latch with WD40 and that seems to work. Volvo want £150 for a new latch

Thanks Rudy, yes as Graham says, seems a bit of basic maintenance on my part will do the trick

The WD40 worked on mine for a while but then it came back with vengeance and no amount would do the trick. I eventually paid an auto electrician to bridge the connection which cost about £50. Wish I’d had that done a long time before

Did you fit yourself? I was told it could be a fairly big job

WD40 will only fix for a short time, it's not a long term lubricant. ACF50 way better.
